New right-wing party enters Spain’s political scene
The party, named ‘Se Acabó la Fiesta’ (The Party is Over), was formally launched in Madrid on Sunday, transitioning from an electoral group into a registered political party. Organizers reported that around 5,000 people attended the inaugural rally, where Perez outlined the party’s primary objective: participating in the 2027 general elections to dismantle what he described as Spain’s “corrupt party system.”
Perez pledged a series of controversial policies, including the “largest mass deportation of immigrants in recent Spanish history,” citing concerns that “the streets are no longer safe.” He also proposed the creation of a “mega-prison” for repeat offenders, modeled on measures by Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele, with no amenities like “gyms and swimming pools.”
Additional policy goals include stricter penalties for corrupt officials, lower taxes for families and low-income citizens, and the introduction of a new AI-powered system to prevent what the party claims is widespread electoral fraud in Spain.
Back in March, Perez voiced strong opposition to EU military support for Ukraine, warning that such involvement could escalate into a global conflict. “I don’t want a single Spanish life to be lost in a war that isn’t ours,” he stated at the time.
Spain already has a major right-wing party, Vox, founded in 2013, which has gained steadily in recent elections. Vox has also promoted strict immigration policies, including a plan announced in July to deport eight million undocumented migrants if elected.
Reports note that the rise of right-wing parties is a broader trend across Europe, with growing political influence seen in countries such as Germany, Italy, and France.
